Extending teaching
beyond the classroom

Packaging your PowerPoint to distribute on CD:

Did you know that you can share/recycle your PowerPoint presentations with your students as study material, even if they don't have PowerPoint on their computers?

If you have PowerPoint and a CD burner, you can easily export your PowerPoint presentation to a CD.

If you give your students a copy of the CD, all they have to do is pop the CD into their computer (at home or at school) and it'll automatically launch your PowerPoint presentation. They don't even need to have PowerPoint installed for it to work!

Once you are ready to share your PowerPoint,
you go to the File menu and choose
"Package for CD".

A window will pop up. You should:

1  Name your CD according to the presentation
    "i.e. - "Lesson 4"

2  Insert a blank CD into the CD burner on
your computer and wait a moment.

3  Click on the "copy to CD" button to burn
    the CD.

Once complete, all you need to do is give the
CD to your students. Once they insert the CD
into their computer, they'll be prompted with
an agreement to install Microsoft's free
PowerPoint viewer, and if they accept - the
presentation will automatically start playing!
