Multi-level Marketing: In
a typical multi-level marketing or network marketing
arrangement, individuals associate with a parent company as
an independent contractor and are compensated based on their
sales of products or service (as well as the sales achieved
by those they bring into the business).
Down-line: All of the people who have joined a
business opportunity through you; they are part of your
business group. Your down-line is comprised of all of your
referrals and indirect referrals. All persons in your
down-line are linked directly to your account in some way. A
down-line of 1000+ users is common and can generate
respectable revenue.
Up-line: All the people
that joined a business opportunity before you did. You
become a member of their business group - i.e. a member of
their down-line - when you join.
Example:
Ann joins, then
Bob joins, and then Crissy joins.
Ann is Bob’s up-line and Bob is part of
Ann’s down-line.
Bob is part of Crissy’s up-line and
Crissy is also part of
Ann’s and Bob’s down-line.
